About Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Academy



The Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Academy, established by Shaolin Temple 34th Generation Warrior Disciple Shi Yan Hui of the Shaolin Temple in China serves as a center to promote and teach traditional and modern day martial arts. The purpose of the California Shaolin Temple is to educate the public in the ancient Shaolin cultures of Chan and Martial Arts.


It’s founder, Master Shi Yan Hui, whose secular name Wen Xiao Long was an origin of FuJian Province, Potian, where the Southern Shaolin Temple is located, started his martial arts training at the age of three under his grandfather, father, uncle and several master of the Southern Shaolin Temple in Southern Style Chinese Martial Arts. Master Bruce Wen was later take into the Shaolin Monastery in Henan, China by his father in the 80s when he was only three years old. He was put under the guidance of warrior monk master Shi Su Gang, Shi Heng Jun, Shi Xing Du, Shi De Cheng, Shi De Yang, Shi Yong Qian, and many more. Master Bruce Wen spends over decades of time training and refining his martial arts in the Shaolin Temple in China before establishing the Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Academy in America.


In 2005, master Yan Hui was granted permission from his master of the Shaolin Temple to teach and promote Shaolin Martial Arts overseas. In June 2005, he established the United States Shaolin martial Arts Academy in Los Angeles, California to spread the unique teaching of Shaolin. In November 2008, The California Shaolin Temple was forms and served as the parent organization of the United States Shaolin Martial Arts Academy, United States Shaolin Martial Arts Performing Group. In August 2013, master Bruce Wen launched the California Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Academy and the Shaolin Entertainment Group.


All classes are instructed by Sifu Master Bruce Wen (AKA Shi Yan Hui). The disciplines offered include Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu, Contemporary Wu-shu, Chi Gong, San Shou, 18 types of weapons, and Self-Defense tactics. At the California Shaolin Temple and the Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Academy our primary objective is to develop a top quality martial arts training curriculum for each student. Classes offered are limited to only a maximum of 15 students per classes and are separated by age group and ability allowing the students to have more training time with Sifu Shi Yan Hui.


Utilizing the proper training approach under each discipline, students have gained a more controlled balance in their lives gaining more confidence, losing weight, and reducing stress. Sifu Shi Yan Hui offers group classes as well as private training sessions for the individual. meet Master Bruce Wen





Master Shi Yan Hui, Secular Name Wen Xiao Long, Birth name Wen Yu Bao, AKA Bruce Wen is a world re-known Chinese action film star, movie producer, director, action directors, educator, philosopher, and a 34th generation Shaolin Temple Warrior Master.


Bruce Wen was first brought into the Shaolin Monastery in China by his father in the 80s when he was only three years old. He was put under the guidance of warrior monk master Shi Su Gang, Shi Heng Jun, Shi Xing Du, Shi De Cheng, Shi De Yang, Shi Yong Qian, and many more. His passion and determination to become the greatest martial arts master, action film star and reaching mastery as a martial artists motivated him to endure many years of intensive training at Shaolin Temple. He was further granted Shaolin Master title Statues and took on Shi Yan Hui as his warrior name.


In 1992, Shaolin Warriors monk and master Shi Yan Hui tour in the United States and worldwide. In 1994, Master Shi, left Shaolin and journey west to America. His quest to pursuing the Hollywood dream lead him to settle in Los Angeles, California, the heart of Hollywood, Entertainment Capital of the World in 1996.


With excellent martial arts skills, acting abilities, and handsome looks, master Shi Yan Hui is set out to conquer Hollywood. He was casted in numerous action films, such as “Forgotten Jewel”, “Organized Chaos”, “Kung Fu Comedy” “Young Hero”, “The Dream of the Red Chamber”, and has also been featured in many worldwide Shaolin Kung Fu performance, newspapers, magazines, televisions, and movies, is well-known and respected nationwide for his extraordinary talents.


Currently residing in Los Angeles, California, Bruce Wen is pursuing a career in the entertainment industry as a producer, director, writer, actor and martial arts choreographer. Additionally, he also oversees and operates the Shaolin Temple Martial Arts Academy in Rosemead, California.
